Invitations 101
If you are worried about having to organize all of the written details for your wedding invitations, fret not. Our graphic designers will work along with you during the entire process to ensure all information is accurate and beautifully arranged. However, if you are curious about the nature of wedding invitation etiquette, the steps are outlined below, line by line.
Host Line
First, we have the host line. Traditionally, this means that the bride’s parents will have their names written here. However, you are welcome to include both sets of parents regardless of who contributes financially to the wedding. In this case, you can either include the groom’s parents with the bride’s parents on the same line or put them on a separate line underneath the groom’s name, such as “son of Mr. And Mrs. Michael Jones.”
Weddings hosted cooperatively by the couple and one or both sets of parents may include lines such as “Together with their parents” or “Together with our families.” If the couple alone pays for and hosts the wedding, you should start with your names followed by the request line.
Request Line
Second, we include the request line. The most common lines include “request the honour of your presence at the marriage of” or “request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of.” Using the British spelling of “honour” as in the above example usually denotes that the event is being held in a church or other house of worship.
Other options are as follows:

In the event that the wedding is held at a private residence, you may use any title you’d like, such as “Johnson Residence.”
You may omit the street address and zip code of a venue unless the event takes place at the host’s home or in the instance that leaving it out would confuse guests about the location. Regardless, the city and state should be fully written out in either case.
Reception (Optional)
